The creator, Van Orman fantasizes about living near the dock. When he was thirteen, hsi family moved to Utah but He still dreamed of adventure and paddled to shell island and eventually, returned to the mainland when things went sour
But then, he decided that he should make a series about a boy going on adventures. After five years in college of animation, Van Orman made some drawings of the boy, Flapjack, little doodles of the first Flapjack. Even though it was hard to tell, he added a pirate name K’nuckles to interact with him, get him into trouble. Bubbie, she was originally a robot whale, but Orman made her into a real live whale so he lives with her. The cast has been scheduled to do their parts for the characters and Van Orman himself voices himself as Flapjack.
The storyboard is drawn by sticky notes and it shows how the story goes. After recording the voice actors, they put the storyboard together with the voices. Music and sound effects are being made. Doing the songs is difficult that anyone could not practice on a tight schedule.
