No Syrup for Old Flapjacks is the second half of the fifteenth episode in Season 1 of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, and the thirtieth episode overall. In this episode, Flapjack and K'nuckles try to find maple syrup on Maple Syrup Island.

Plot[]

The episode starts off with Bubbie telling her son the story of why she named him "Flapjack" and eventually gives him his first plate of pancakes. But just as Flapjack is about to start eating, K'nuckles stops him by claiming that you shouldn't eat pancakes without maple syrup -- but then Bubbie reveals that she's completely out of the stuff. K'nuckles takes Flapjack to the Candy Barrel to get some maple syrup for his pancakes. But Larry claims that he's completely out of maple syrup as well and hasn't actually received any shipments of the stuff in weeks. Hearing about their predicament, a strange man tells Flapjack and K'nuckles that they need to go to Maple Syrup Island if they want to get more maple syrup -- Bubbie takes the duo there and the two explore the island before eventually coming upon a cabin in the woods.

There they meet Lord Hotcakes. He tells them that all of his workers had vanished from the island because some German guy continuously used his cologne, it being a pollution on the island. Lord Hotcakes then says he would have just turned on the fan to blow away the cologne but was too weak to do so. Lord hotcakes then teach Flapjack and K'nuckles how to make the maple syrup. After they finish all of the instructions, they finally finish making the maple syrup. Lord hotcakes then drink some of the maple syrup. Regenerated, he has enough energy to power the fan which blows the cologne and the German man off the island. Lord hotcakes then tell them that he has to "go do some stuff" and tells them not to leave.

K'nuckles pours the maple syrup onto flapjacks, which has grown moldy from being old and exposed to the elements of the forest on Syrup Island. K'nuckles suggests scraping it off with a knife. They go down in search of Lord Hotcakes to see if he has a knife but find a room that resembles a dungeon and are thus chained to a wall by Lord Hotcakes. Lord Hotcakes then reveals to them that his workers didn't vanish because of the fog, they all left because he wouldn't pay them. He tells K'nuckles and Flapjack that from now on they have to stay on the island to work for free. Just then, they are saved by the moldy flapjacks after they turned into a creature that grew arms and legs. The flapjack creature tackles Lord Hotcakes the ground, which killing him from impact as his head is smashed by the hard surface and relases Flapjack and K'nuckles. The creature promises that it will stay on island to make the maple syrup so no flapjacks "will ever be forced to go naked". This makes Flapjack notice his pants are down and his shirt is off, and he is in his underwear. So, he puts his shirt back on, and he pulls his pants back up. The old flapjacks laugh.

The episode ends with Flapjack retelling their excursion to Bubbie. Even saying that that all the workers came back to work for the flapjack creature. Bubbie's glad that everything worked out and promises to make her son another plate of pancakes, but Flapjack politely declines, claiming that he'll just drink it straight from the bottle like K'nuckles does. Bubbie advises Flapjack not to do that, noting how she feels K'nuckles is a bad influence.

The episode ultimately ends with K'nuckles out at sea after Bubbie told him he could "sail" himself home after they got into an argument earlier in the episode.
